If your brakes make a clunking sound, make sure you check the following items:

Caliper may be loose or have seized 

Inspect the calipers and ensure that there is fluid movement and they are assembled onto the vehicle securely. 

Check brake caliper sliders are free and slide with ease, lubricate with grease if required. 

Replace calipers if they have seized and tighten mounting bolts if necessary.

Brake pads badly worn

Badly worn brake pads can cause unusual noises. 

Inspect the pads and replace if necessary.

Worn or damaged suspension components

Inspect the whole suspension system. 

Check from the control arms, ball joints, shock absorbers and all their mounting points. 

If any has been damaged or worn, they may need to be replaced or adjusted.
